UW Reunion and UW 20
Ultimate Workout held a 20-year reunion project with the Esperanza congregation in Tuxtla-Gutierrez, Chiapas, Mexico this month. Nine alumni arrived for a project that really needed more than a score of workers. But, as this was the first alumni project, the team prayed, evaluated the challenges and started work.
Four local Maranatha employees helped with the church building project for the Tuxla-Gutierrez congregation. The staff, who had already prepared the floor and steel, made grout and cut blocks to support the alumni. But they quickly had to begin cutting blocks to fit around window frames because the volunteers were moving so fast.
After several courses of blocks had been laid, the local church members swelled the work force. Together the new team participated in a miracle. By Friday afternoon the new church had been completed—floor, walls, roof and pulpit.
The small group preceded some 200 teenagers who came for the 20th Ultimate Workout, held in the same region. The teens built seven One-Day Churches, five of which they completed with block walls. They also held medical clinics and Vacation Bible School in the surrounding community.
